Surface Unsigned Semi Final - Thursday 30th July 2009 @ The Dome, London

Words by David Couchman

Never Sed
Indie rock at its greatest, they had all the songs and the entire atmosphere to really make you believe in what it was they were there to prove. A four piece band, with lead and rhythm guitar, mid-way through the set the lead singer broke out the acoustic and added to their rather romanticised brand of indie rock. The relationship between lead singer and bassist will surely be the founder of great things. Their elevator music interlude was better than the silence we are usually treated to while the band tunes up. A good sign that showed they were aware of the audience.

Surface Unsigned Round One - Tuesday 14th April 2009 @ The Boston Music Rooms, London Words by David Couchman

Never Sed
If I could summarise Never Sed in one word it would be ‘professional’; here is a band that are really in their element, performance wise and the general life style that comes with ‘the band’ mantle, their ease and comfort shone through as they made the stage look like a home away from home. A relaxing, soothing blend of indie pop that hits the spot, with a tight set that mixes expressive guitar riffs and suitable drumming to match, they present themselves as a complete act that has the experience and skill to go to the top.

The Tune Inn - Acton - Sept 18th 2008

Some young newbies were in town and I am most sorry that I forget the name of their band. They turned in an excellent set of original songs, played with panache, enthusiasm, power, fire and skill. They really were THAT good. Pop/rock is how I think you'd describe them, definitely not Indie, and their stage presence was of a different class. I am sure that they will go a long way.”

Mak - The Sesh - July 2008

As much as I liked The DIYs, no one in The Linnet last night could of knocked headliners and scunthorpes finest, Never Seds performance. After winning the Hullvibe MP3 chart for June they came across with a point to prove. And prove it they did. Top marks all round for professionalism, musicianship and spirit. Great guys. Not really my style at a distance yet I found myself nodding and tapping my feet throughout and all said, I really enjoyed their set. Good work fellas. They even brought a few with them which is rare for an outta town band so even more respect to them. Theyll be back thats for sure. Top lads.

Ronnie Myers - Lincoln Castle - June 2008

Dear lads,

I am the bloke who came up to you and explained that I was a retired Sergeant Major and have heard thousands of bands and never got excited at any of them.

Your band however had me tapping my hands and feet big style and when I got back home I told my wife and she could not believe me.

Thank you so much for the free CD (I love the track called conversation and play it in my car constantly.

There has only ever been one group that I am interested in and that is a band called 10 cc.

10 cc were once voted the most talented group on earth and your music style reminded me so much of them.  Keep the keyboards in as much as you can as this instrument seems to be lost these days and the way you change the beat from fast to slow and back again is brilliant.

You have certainly won this old fuddy duddy over.  You were by far the best band on the night and I look forward to seeing you again

Flatrabbitmusic - Aug 2007

First up were Neversed, a band I've seen a few times now and a band, I have to say, each time get beter and better. In Josh Hindley they have a great frontman who commands attention throughout, injecting just the right amount of humour into the proceedings, and the band as a whole now put much more into their visual performance.

The self-proclaimed blungsters are rapidly building a strong & varied set list with some fine melodies and catchy hooks and the stand-out numbers for me were "Dirty Sexy" and the almost rockabilly-esque "Its Getting Dark". Chris Hunsley's bass and Chas Cades drums knitted together nicely and Nick Pinchbeck added some neat keyboard touches in the down-tempo "Yesterday". It was good stuff from Neversed and it would be no surprise to see them in this years final
